Besides documentary-style sessions which capture candid, everyday moments, I also take fine art portraits for small schools and pop-up family events.
My portrait sessions are both professional and relaxed. There are never forced smiles or awkward poses. I follow each child’s lead and capture images that reflect who they are and not who anyone else thinks they should be. I create an environment where kids can relax and simply be themselves while we chat and I take photos. The results are genuine, timeless portraits that celebrate kids exactly as they are.
My aim is to offer a unique, boutique experience. To this end, I only take on a select number of Northern Virginia schools and occasional local businesses (for pop-up sessions). In doing so, I’m able to provide excellent customer service and artistic images that just don’t happen when working with large, corporate photography companies or studios. I forego busy backgrounds and bright flash in lieu of a classic, black background and natural light. The experience is easygoing for everyone… which means I can make images that are beautiful, fun, quirky, delightful, and/or serious.
